Business Survey: Strengthening Innovation in WA Government Procurement

CORE is gathering feedback on behalf of the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI) to improve how innovation is considered as part of State Government procurement processes. This work is being done as part of the 2024 update to the Western Australian Industry Participation Strategy (WAIPS); a strategy which aims to maximise opportunities for local WA businesses and workers, ensuring they receive a greater share of the billions of dollars spent by the State Government each year on the procurement of goods and services.

WAIPS 2024 identifies a number of focus areas, with one of these being the encouragement of innovation through government procurement. Innovation is an important driver of business productivity and has a strong positive effect on job creation and economic diversification. In relation to government procurement, innovation can relate to the application or introduction of a new technology and/or method for doing something, that helps a business remain competitive and meet customer demands. Innovations can be applied to a wide variety of processes and activities across many industry areas.

Please provide responses to the below survey questions, focusing on your experiences with procurement and tendering to the WA Government, specifically in relation to innovation. Your insights can help shape this update to WAIPS 2024, strengthen our local innovation ecosystem and create better opportunities for SMEs to supply to government.

Alternatively, if you would prefer to discuss your inputs directly, please email info@corehub.com.au to arrange a discussion via phone or MS Teams.
