City of Perth: Small Business Bounce Back Grants Available! Find out if your business is eligible.

New businesses looking to take up desk tenancy in CORE Hub Perth may be eligible to receive a one-off payment of up to $1500 towards a working space lease agreement of 12 weeks or more through the CIty of Perth’s Small Business Bounce Back Scheme!

Recognising that small business makes an enormous contribution to the vibrancy and energy of Perth, The City of Perth wants to encourage small businesses to thrive by seeking out new opportunities and developing new initiatives to grow. The program has been designed to assist businesses to respond and adapt due to uncertainty caused by COVID-19.

The Small Business Bounce Back Grant program has been developed to encourage businesses within the City boundaries to develop capacity, invest in their premises, create additional spend, attract new customers, improve streetscape interfaces/amenity, and ultimately assist in business retention, attraction and sustainability. The City of Perth aims to engage and work with businesses in the City of Perth local government area who are contributing to Perth’s vibrancy, sustainability, growth and employment prospects.

How much is the Small Business Bounce Back Grant Worth?

Grants for up to $1,500 for 3 staff occupying 3 desk spaces or $1,000 for 2 staff occupying 2 desk spaces can be applied for.

Who can apply?

Any business who meets the eligibility criteria outlined by the CIty of Perth can apply.

To be eligible to receive grant funding from the City, the applicant must:

  • be a legally constituted entity with an Australian Business Number (ABN) or an applicant that is under the auspice of an Australian legal entity;

  • have 20 or fewer employees or maximum annual turnover of up to $10 million excl. GST (as per the Australian Tax Office and Australian Bureau of Statistics definitions of a small business);

  • hold the rights to the intellectual property for your product and/or service;

  • have all appropriate insurances and licenses;

  • have submitted the application prior to the project commencement date with sufficient time to enable consideration by the City and Council;

  • offer a project or initiative within the City of Perth local government area; and

  • demonstrate financial viability without the City’s funding (an individual project may not be viable without the City’s support, however the organisation must be).

Additionally, to be eligible the applicant must either:

  1. own the property; or

  2. have a commercial lease agreement within the City of Perth local government area and be able to demonstrate commercial tenure of at least three months; or

  3. demonstrate commitment to signing a lease within the City of Perth local government area, noting a Small Business Bounce Back Grant will not be paid out until the lease is signed; or

  4. have an Office Agreement or Co working Space Agreement for at least 12 weeks from date of grant submission that clearly demonstrates that the minimum number of desks are being occupied.

Assessment Criteria

Applicants will need to submit project feasibility and meet at least one of the project outcomes criteria.
