CORE Start Pitch Night - Chamellon Mettle Group Takes Home People’s Choice.
On the last Thursday of September, four founders with four innovative ideas, took to the stage to pitch their start-up as part of CORE Start Pitch Night.
CORE Start is a 12-week entrepreneurial development designed to help young businesses within the energy and mining space scale effectively. The program looks not just at capability and technical skill, but how founders can best be set up for success in terms of resilience and soft skill development. Run multiple times throughout the year at CORE, our Round 2 cohort included:

Peta Chirgwin, Director of Chameleon Mettle Group
Wesley Emery, Director of iRPM
Natasha Leppard, Operations Manager at Soft Rigging Solutions
Highly experienced leaders, entrepreneurs and mentors Jasmin Ward, Start-Up & Innovation Facilitator and Entrepreneur, and Nick Saunders, Executive Director of Grow Impact and Managing Director of Opaxe joined the program and over the course of 12 weeks, worked one-on-one with each of the participants. Each Founder was paired with a mentor providing them the opportunity to deep dive into some of their current challenges and potential growth areas of their respective business ventures.
Along with additional group mentoring sessions with entrepreneuiral guest speakers including Alex Bertram and Bill Withers, each of the four participants also took part in workshops delivered by Aaron Birkby founder of Peak Persona and Tribe Global Ventures, and pitch training with Shil Shanghavi founder of Chatterbox Public Speaking.
Start-Ups to the Stage
The culmination of CORE Start sees each of the founders pitch their business to a live audience and a panel of industry experts. This not only gives leaders valuable experience in pitching their ideas live but also gives them the opportunity to gain valuable insight and feedback from a well-respected panel of industry experts.

Along with our industry panel-led formal questions and feedback, the audience then voted on their favourite pitch and the one they would hypothetically invest in, with one company to take home the People’s Choice Award.
And, the winner is…
It was exceptionally close this round! In fact, only 3% separating first and second place! While Jessica Shakes, Co-Founder of Helme almost got there, it was Chameleon Mettle Group, led by Peta Chirgwin that was awarded People’s Choice for CORE Start Round 2, 2021!
