CORE Start - The Story So Far; Round 1 2022 Update

This week marks the halfway point in our first round of CORE Start for 2022.

Over the last six weeks, our five CORE Start founders and co-founders - Maxwell Arif, founder of Ezi Fix Conditioning Monitoring, Henry Sukhinin, founder of NGMX, Davoud Nassehi, founder of S5Systems, Florence Drummond, founder Kara Ged and Ben Johnson, founder of Team Agency - have not just worked in their businesses but have dedicated time to working on their businesses. With the guidance of mentors, advisors and industry professionals, CORE Start gives our founders the opportunity to really look under the hood, so to speak, and start to refine their ideas, products, services and their pitch.

Roborigger Case Study Session

Roborigger’s mission is simple: to make lifting operations safer and more efficient for personnel on worksites. Inspired by a conversation Offshore Europe Conference in 2015, founder Derick Markwell began the ideation and development of a load rotating and stabilising unit for cranes.

The CORE Start Cohort got to sit down with Derick for an intimate Q & A session on his incredible five year journey from ideation to Series A Funding and global expansion. The founders were given the opportunity to not just hear his story but to learn directly from him seeking advice and feedback on their businesses and idea from someone who has gone before them.

Presenting, Public Speaking and Storytelling with Shil Shanghavi

Shil is a Public Speaking and Storytelling expert and is Head Speaking Coach at TEDxPerth so when it comes to learning how to effectively communicate a brands key messages and selling points, there are few more qualified to guide our CORE Start founders.

The interactive session with Shil went beyond how to feel confident presenting to an audience to teach our participants how to weave storytelling into their presentations to create a sense of intrigue and command the attention of an audience. Drawing on the practicalities of presenting, Shil also took the group content creation, presentation structure, visual aids and story creation. Our founders were able to walk away with new learned skills that help build their presenting capability and networking ability – skills which will remain with them for a lifetime.

Group Mentoring

Our first group mentoring session focused on 5 key areas of developing a business. The aim was to give our CORE Start founders practical tools and tips and to hear first-hand from businesses who have been through a similar journey.

Guest speakers for the session included Camp Connect Founder Erin Bell, SafeAI Business Development Manager, Brenton Welford, and RadixGeo Founder, Russell Menezes - all who are CORE Start alumni as well. The session was facilitated by Kay Solanki, a Non-Executive Board Director of Startup WA. Kay has over 25 years of experience in the business world - and is all about enabling executives, entrepreneurs and enterprises.
