The idea for Soft Rigging Solutions originated from a tragic incident at a mine site. Josh Leppard, along with other first responders, had to navigate a steep embankment over large rocks at night while carrying heavy steel d-shackles, each weighing a whopping 58kg. Realizing the dangers and challenges posed by traditional shackles, Josh combined his knowledge of mining and his passion for yacht racing to come up with a safer alternative.

Soft Rigging Solutions' synthetic lightweight shackles, such as the Poseidon, Orion, and Erebus shackles, are a game-changer in heavy lifting. With minimum break strengths of up to 550,000kg, these shackles are significantly lighter than their steel counterparts, weighing only 12.7kg to 13.7kg, while steel d-shackles weigh 58.68kg. These shackles are made with a Dyneema core, which is 15 times stronger than steel, making them incredibly robust and reliable. Moreover, the tightly over braided Dyneema cover provides high UV and chemical resistance and chafe tolerance, ensuring durability and longevity.

One of the critical features of Soft Rigging Solutions' synthetic lightweight shackles is that they do not release stored energy. In the unlikely event that the weight capacity is exceeded, the stored energy is contained within the unique double-over braided Dyneema cover, preventing dangerous flying parts that can occur when steel shackles break. This feature greatly reduces the risks associated with heavy lifting and manual handling, making it a safer alternative for workers.

The synthetic lightweight shackles from Soft Rigging Solutions not only enhance safety but also increase productivity. Traditional heavy steel d-shackles can be cumbersome and require multiple people to handle them. In contrast, the lightweight design of these synthetic shackles allows for easier handling, reducing the need for multiple personnel. Moreover, the weight reduction makes them more inclusive, removing physical barriers that may exclude some people from successfully using heavy steel d-shackles.
