All the ideas at CORE Connect: Ideas Night!
On the last Thursday in July our CORE Start Round 1 participants pitched their businesses at CORE Connect: Ideas Night.
Hosted and moderated by none other than innovation facilitator and mentor, Jasmin Ward, CORE Connect: Ideas Night was a fantastic display of new innovation coming through the sector from individuals and businesses wanting to positively shape the future of energy and mining.
Team Agency Founder and Director, Ben Johnson took to the stage first to depict the importance of ROI in marketing and the benefit of choosing a marketing agency that has specific energy and mining and METS expertise. As a global leader in mining and one of the largest resource producers in the world, Australia has a unique opportunity to continue to advance operations and build a truly innovative industry. Team Agency’s aim is to see Australia’s METS sector reach its full potential – taking full advantage of the global opportunities on offer.
Next up was Davoud Nassehi founder of S5 System. Davoud and his team have been developing a range of sensors to enhance industrial IoT and make more automation possible within the energy and mining industry. Davoud introduced us to the company’s three main products; BoltTight a smart washer that allows for tightness and pre-tension monitoring, GetSmart, a ground engagement tool for dislogdement detection and WearMon, real time wear liner monitoring sensor with predictive maintenance. Manufactured in Australia and certified with a number of quality standards, Davoud demonstrated a real opportunity for energy and mining companies to save money while reinvesting into the Australian market.
NGMX Founder, Henry Sukhinin joined us via video link from Adelaide. NGMX is commercialising the patented metal recovery technology developed by InnovEco Australia. The technology is used to process low-grade oxide ores, mine tailings and mineral wastes. The process can be applied to treat metal contaminated process waters and soils on mines and in industry and recover some of the environmental clean-up costs. This technology aligns with a number of sustainability goals through higher metal recovery, lower reagent and water consumption and is increasing the metal output from the resource and reducing operating and environmental costs.
Florence Drummond was our fourth presenter pitching her innovative and sustainable remote housing solution Kara Ged. Founded in 2021, the Kara Ged team is utilising the most up to date technology and AI systems to create a product that will sustain the harsh environments across Australian conditions and convert these elements into energy collecting hubs for sustainability and the carbon footprint of your operations. The objective of Kara Ged is to provide innovative lifestyle solutions for operations across the mining and resources sector and to improve the quality of the experience of the workforce to support retention, mental wellness and safety while reducing bottom line costs and reducing the impact on the environment.
Our final speaker for the night was Michael Shenton, CEO of Ezi Fix Condition Monitoring. Ezi Fix Condition Monitoring actually makes condition monitoring of conveyors easy with its Drop Down Roller Changeout Frame that allows individuals to change rollers quickly, easily and safely while the conveyor is running. Michael was able to show how a roller can be changed by almost anyone in less than 2 minutes with a simple video of a worker completing the roller change on a moving conveyor. This simple solution has the potential to increase safety and accessibility in the market as well as saving organisations hundreds of thousands of dollars annually in preventing unscheduled conveyor maintenance.
CORE would like to extend a thank you to the incredible panel of industry advisors, Mariel Renteria, Alex Bertram, Michael Simms and Colin La Galia. These four individuals provided thoughtful and important feedback to each of the participants on both their ideas and their pitches, giving our participants specific insight into what the industry might be looking for and how each company can demonstrate its value and the problem is it solving.
CORE Start has been supported by Oracle, For Blue, City of Cockburn and The West Australian Department for Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation in 2022.
