Meet the Mentors: CORE Start

CORE Start has kicked off once again and we are very excited to introduce you to our mentors for the first round of 2023. CORE is excited to announce that Nick Saunders, CEO of Grow Impact, will be joining us as a Mentor for another round. We are also delighted to welcome Peter Clark, Commercialisation Advisor at WA Department of Industry, Innovation and Science, as a Mentor to the CORE Start Program.

Nick Saunders, CEO Grow Impact

Nick is a seasoned professional with a diverse and dynamic career spanning various industries and countries. Beginning as a Chemist at a gold mine in Western Australia, he progressed to managing a generic pharmaceutical company, overseeing wine and spirits imports, and contributing to a £2.3 billion IPO on the LSE. With a strong entrepreneurial drive, Nick ventured into establishing and running his own companies in Bulgaria, gaining significant international experience along the way.

For over two decades, Nick's passion has been focused on start-ups, leading him to undertake ventures in Eastern Europe, Chile, and his current base in Australia. Currently, he is actively involved in mentoring and supporting two start-ups in their development and growth, combining his expertise with his love for travel.

Nick has a deep knowledge base spanning a number of business domains including leadership, strategy, fund raising, finance and technology. Nick is also a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, where he actively contributes to effective governance and strategic decision-making.

With his diverse background, entrepreneurial acumen, and international exposure, Nick brings a unique perspective and a wealth of expertise to drive innovation, growth, and success in the start-up landscape.

 

Peter Clark, Projects Lead at METS Ignited

Peter is a highly experienced professional with a diverse background spanning multiple sectors, including agriculture, robotics, software, and resources. He has extensive experience in commercializing resources technologies and has actively contributed to numerous startups over the years.

Currently serving as Project Lead at METS Ignited, Peter is focused on developing the pipeline of Australian suppliers to the mining industry, research organisations and capital providers to improve the competitiveness and productivity within the Australian METS sector. Previously, Peter has worked as a Commercialisation Advisor at the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science, Peter promotes and supports innovation and commercialization initiatives. He provides valuable advice and assistance to program applicants and guides participants through the commercialization process.

With a proven track record, Peter has held notable positions such as Business Development Manager and CEO at Scanalyse Pty Ltd, where his contributions led to industry recognition and awards. He is driven by the challenges faced by startups and finds fulfillment in helping entrepreneurs overcome obstacles and witness their growth and success.

Through his diverse expertise, commitment to innovation, and dedication to supporting startups, Peter plays a vital role in empowering entrepreneurs and driving the success of their ventures.
