Why In-Mine Separation and Pre-Concentration?

Most current mining methods involve moving large amounts of waste material to access and extract valuable materials. Quite often waste material becomes inadvertently mixed with valuable materials during mining and requires more intensive processing. To lower the footprint of mining operations, we are looking for methods that can help us recover modern materials more precisely at every stage of the material handling process.

The opportunity for precision mining is becoming increasingly important as ore grades decline, resulting in greater volumes of waste being produced, increased water used and more energy required to produce minerals.

TAD is looking for new ways to unlock modern minerals, as part of their mission is to extract only the most valuable parts of an orebody so they can reduce the mining footprint, waste, water and emissions.

TAD are looking for new ways to unlock modern minerals. A major focus for us is to extract only the most valuable parts of an orebody so we can reduce waste, water and emissions.

Change H2OW We Explore 2022 Challenge

OZ Minerals is committed to reducing water used in our exploration activities. Their Exploration team is seeking novel technologies and solutions to support water reduction of existing exploration operations.

This challenge invites innovators to put forward their unique and novel solutions that can help reduce our in-ground water sources by supporting water conservation practices or providing alternative approaches to exploration activities. We are keen to hear from innovators from inside and outside the mining sector and will consider a wide range of ideas which may address broad or niche areas of the problem.

Geoshapes Data Science Challenge

Can you build a machine learning model that can detect and analyse geometric shapes in three-dimensional space from 3D data?

In this challenge you'll have access to 3D voxel data that represents a CT scan of cored rock, to see if you can identify shapes within that data that represent minerals.
