The Minerals Council of Australia MineWell App

The Minerals Council of Australia has released its latest offering, the MineWell app. Helping put mental health and wellbeing at the forefront, the new MineWell app has been designed specifically for mineworkers and their families.

The number one value of the Australian mining industry is the safety and health of its workforce. This includes mental health and safety. With research from Mates in Mining estimating that blue-collar workers are six times more likely to die from suicide than an accident at work, the MCA chose to take preventative action.

MineWell is a preventative mental health and wellbeing mobile app created by the Minerals Council of Australia and Utility Creative in consultation with miners from The Bloomfield Group, Energy Resources Australia (ERA) Group, Rio Tinto and Oz Minerals. Each party participated in the extensive consultation and trialing process to make sure real value was been attained users. It has been modelled after the Policing Association equivalent, Equipt App, and adapted for the specific stresses that mineworkers can experience such as long hours, sleep quality, isolation and financial management.

The MineWell app was created by miners, for miners and is available for free on the Apple App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android) for AUS and NZ mine workers and their families.
